Thanks guys...PST and WET sounds like the solution. Sigh...I also have to do
Quicken and Quick Books. But...I do get the old PC. Install Linux (RH I
think) and start playing.

The easiest thing to do is use Windows Easy Transfer. It will back up all
of a user's settings, data files, Favorites, basically everything except
the
installed apps. Well, it also doesn't back up extra directories you might
have created, like C:\STUFF. It stores it anywhere you tell it to: USB
drive, network drive, just some folder on the PC.

On the new PC run WET again and restore.

WET is free and available on XP, Vista, and 7. It may be called something
else on XP. And on Vista & 7 it's pre-installed. I _think_ it's
pre-installed on XP but am not sure.

What's the best way to move saved emails (multiple folders) from one PC
to
another? Hmmm...also contacts and whatever else you can store in Outlook.
I
believe it's Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007. Yes, someone is getting a new
laptop for Christmas. Thanks!
