I've run into troubles with .pst files before. I don't disagree with your
assessment of them at all.

Correct. Any Exchange admin will tell you that PSTs are the root of all
evil! If you're running exchange there are numerous reasons from
data-loss to backup to e-discovery that you don't want any PSTs in the
enterprise.
