Good grief. Please don't. You'll just release toxic chemicals into the air
if you do.
Use a screwdriver & remove the circuit board. Snap it in two. Take a drill
with a bit made for metal & drill 2 or 3 holes through the platters. After
that it would take Hurculean effort and expense to recover the data.
Then check with your city/county government or waste hauler about safe
electronics recycling.
