I think you want a wireless bridge.

If you can pick up a cheap WRT54G (linux version), you can probably flash a 3rd party firmware (like Tomato or DD-WRT) to get what you want.

Just to add to David's comment - the Tomato FAQ shows how to set up
two routers like this:

I use the LinkSys WRT54GL with Tomato (though only the one) and it
has a terrific amount of functionality.
