Is local file/printer sharing enabled on the Vista machine? Start - Control Panel - Network & Internet and select "Set up file sharing" under Network & Sharing Center.

Actually, the first question we should ask is, was this working and then broke or is this the first time setup?

BTW, for file sharing & centralized home backup I just last night set up a Windows Home Server machines.

Subject: [PCTECH] Gah! Win XP/Vista Networking Problems

I am getting the following message trying to browse my network on my XP
computer:
---------------------------
My Network Places
---------------------------
Home is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.

The network path was not found.

The only other PC is a Vista Home Premium Laptop on Wireless. Any ideas on
where I can start? Both PCs have the Firewall turned off.
