The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
We mandated this when we went to replicated databases for CRM on our
laptops. We started with a product called SafeGuard, but our current
laptops (Dell D600's) had problems with the overhead involved with all
the layers of software. The database replication did not help us here,
either. It is time for a hardware refresh and we have purchased new
Dell D630's that have the encryption built into the hard drive itself.
So far, that has been more successful. It's brand new, but fully
supported by Dell, and I assume other manufacturers. We have also
tested BitLocker, the drive encryption built into Vista Enterprise with
success, but we are not ready to deploy Vista for other reasons. Hope
that helps.

Subject: [PCTECH] Laptop hard drive encryption
Is anyone encrypting their laptop hard drive? If so, is it
corporate-mandated or personal choice? What product would/do you use to
do
this?
TIA,
Steve
