Is anyone familiar with keyboards with a split space bar? My wife had one
for her transcription work that came with the left space bar set up as a
backspace key (confusing as heck for me to use). That keyboard went south
and she's having problems locating another one. I can't recall the brand
offhand (Compaq I think), but that model is no longer produced.

We have discovered that keyboards that say they are 106 keys aren't
necessarily so (when you try to program the keys, both space bars are seen
as one). She purchased an Adesso, but it is not what she wanted. The
Kinesis keyboard (not the Maxim, possibly the Advantage or another model)
might be what she wants.

What she would like is a split space bar that is programmable or comes set
up as a left side backspace. Ergonomic would be nice. Also nice to have,
but not needed is a touch pad in place of a mouse.

Are there any recommendations or other features to look/watch out for?
She's pretty picky about what she uses, so my suggestions are not going
anywhere. <vbg>

Thanks.
