It seems that there's confusion over this. (I'm confused as much as anyone.) It _looks_ as if you're describing a kind of "unicast key" mechanism used by RADIUS servers. But I _think_ that the OP was writing about WEP "key refresh" keyindexes.

I don't know if those are directly related. I had a kind of
understanding of WEP keyindexes as providing a rotating set of keys
rather than subsets of keys for separate groups. I've seen no references that indicate that groups were related for WEP keys.

Of course, for me, being out in a forest setting and using wireless only so I can have convenience around my house, I'm not worried enough to bother digging into details. I easily could've missed something.

That doesn't mean I'm not interested in learning though.
