How is it formatted?  I don't know whether it can be NTFS, but if so, 
that's probably the cause (again).

Sorry - probably old name on my part. Yep, it's the memory stick. USB, 
stick it in. Knoppix sees it fine but that it what I got the copy error on
when I posted this originally today (I had received the same error on the
hard drives earlier).
