I don't understand. Why does it matter how many lines there are on the screen?
The reason you have a scanner send CRLF is because terminal emulation programs treat CRLF as ENTER. So it sends the barcode, and presses the ENTER key. Perhaps the problem is that the terminal that you're using doesn't accept CRLF in this manner?
Modifying the display file to use auto record advance will work only if it's a fixed-length barcode. If the length of the barcode varies, then it's not going to work, because the scanner won't send field exit.
