Thanks for the tip, Bill. I tried it, but it introduced a little bit of weirdness. The comment shows, in full, on the display, but the document prints the balloon with just the word "Comment:" in it. Dunno what's up with that. I will check out that KB article when I have some free time tonight. I cross-posted to an Office newsgroup and the suggestion there was to write a macro that saves existing user settings and changes them upon opening a document, and then restores those settings upon closing the document. I think there are too many problems with that solution. I.e., what happens if Word crashes after opening the document but before closing it? What happens if the user opens another document while the document in question is open? - Dan
