You can VPN in to your office via a broadband or dial-up. That's just the
medium. Our VPN set up offers us the ability to connect vial broadband or
dial-up. The dial-up VPN isn't through our own ISP. We dial into a number
that lets us log onto the network. I don't think that your employer should
pay for your broadband but they also shouldn't force you to provide your
own dial-up. If you need Internet access to get connected then they should
provide connectivity for you or anybody using the on-call laptop. If for
no other reason, it would assure them that you always should have a way to
connect when you need to. It doesn't have to be fancy but it does have to
work.

Confusion reigns. <g> In my conversation with my manager, I was told that I couldn't "dial in". I think I was remembering the old days when I could call a modem at my employer's, forgetting all about the dial-up ISP services. So, yes, I think a dial-up ISP would work just dandy at an easier-to-swallow price point. OK, so more food for thought, but I'm still gonna push my employer on this. - Dan -- This is the PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users (PcTech) mailing list To post a message email: PcTech@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/pctech or email: PcTech-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/pctech.
