Waden, & all; Thank for your replys. I looked at the registry entry for .txt, and also for the program itself. Walden was right - the command for the program was missing the double quotes around it, and was also missing the %1 parm. When I fixed it for the program entry in the registry, and for the .txt entry, it now works as I expect it to. The open with works right on files that are not yet assigned to NoteTab, and the .txt works right when opening with a double click. Why it was different from this reinstall than it was in the original install is still a question in my mind, but at least it works! Sounds to me like the filename isn't getting passed to NoteTab Pro. Open the registry. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and then click on .txt (you can open HKCR, click on HKCR and type .txt to position there.) Take the (default) value and then find that in HKCR (remember to type, it's easier) Open that key and there should be a "shell" key, open that, then open the "open" key then the "command" key. The (Default) value should have the path to NoteTab Pro. I'll be it doesn't have a "%1" (including the double quotes) at the end of the command. It should look like: "C:\Path\NoteTabPro.exe" "%1" Without the "%1" windows starts NoteTabPro, but NoteTabPro doesn't know why it was opened so it just sits there. -Walden -- Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
