And, doggone it, I did such a nice job, if the cable weren't there, you'd never even know there was a hole! Besides, I already made the $7 cable investment! Anyway, I finally bore down last night and put the connectors on the cable. Had to use 10x magnifying glass and strong light and several tries... oh, and I snipped the four wires that ethernet doesn't use (according to http://www.aptcommunications.com/ncode.htm), otherwise I might not have ever been able to put that together. One glaring problem with the cable I bought is that the colors on the insulation were pathetic. Orange & brown were virtually indistinguishable, and the white covers w/ color strips shown in the instructions I printed were basically reduced to tiny dots that required the magnifying glass to see. If I had had the colors that the finished cable I borrowed from work for reference, I'm sure it would have gone a lot faster. If there's a next time for this, I will *definitely* shop for better cable. Anyway, the testing unit gave a thumbs up, it's working, and throughput seems as high and reliable as any of the other connections in the house, so I would call this a success! Thanks for all the suggestions! - Dan
