Along the lines of this topic...

I just bought a PC with XP Home pre-installed, with the obligatory junk
(Symantec, AOL, etc.) installed with it. All I have is a disaster recovery
CD (actually, I had to create it myself; they supplied the blank CD-R,
sheesh).

I am wondering if I can do a scratch install with someone else's *retail*
version of XP Home, and use the same "phone home" ID that's plastered on the
side of the new PC? Legally, of course.
