Is there a good reason (other than Microsoft was too lazy to do it), why this release/renew stuff has to be done manually? What is it that my eyes see and my fingers do with WINIPCFG or IPCONFIG that Windows can't do on its own? If I've got an always-on connection (DSL, cable), why can't Windows poll periodically (via pinging the ISP?) or at least display an intelligent message in the browser (instead of clueless "Unable to find site", how about "Hey, your IP address and/or subnet mask or *something* looks amiss. Try /releasing and /renewing via Win9x/ME's WINIPCFG or Win2K/XP's IPCONFIG before tearing out your hair over this.") - Dan
