Jeff We've done the workgroup/domain switch recently and it was fairly painless. Security is much stronger and easier to manage using group policies. The biggest problem we found was that when a PC joins the domain Windows (XP for us) creates a new user so all your old setttings are no longer available. Your desktop, favorites, some pgms just aren't available. This was a showstopper for us. However, we found that XP has a wizard that solves this problem almost 100%. Choose All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It allows you to save your workgroup settings and then restore them after you join the domain. It works very well. Set up a test PC in the workgroup, run the wizard, join the domain, restore you settings and see what you think. We found it to be very easy to do. Regards, Nick Blattner
