If AdAware doesn't solve the problem, bring up the task
list and see what's running.  For each entry (except
(Explorer & Systray) search google for the program 
name.  

I have a link that lists a huge number of programs 
that are typically found on most systems. Unfortunately,
it's at home :(  I was surprised at how many video
drivers had "malware" automatically load at startup.
IIRC, ATI is/was notorious for this!
