My own thought was that he'd better off installing OS/2 or Linux, or buying a used motherboard and some memory - pretty cheap these days. My memory is dim, but weren't there some limitations to the number of files/directory with 98? --------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.martinvt.com --------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users Date: 07/09/04 09:49:24 To: 'PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users' Subject: RE: [PCTECH] HANG time... Another thought: You can buy a brand new machine from Dell for only about $400 these days (less monitor). Why screw with an ancient machine and a very bad OS (win98). At best if you get it up and running you've still got a barely runnable system. Spend the money and end up with something decent for your troubles. The worst case scenario is that you have to reload windows. -- This is the PC Technical Discussion for iSeries Users (PcTech) mailing list To post a message email: PcTech@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/pctech or email: PcTech-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/pctech.
