Your firewall will have 2 NICs. One get hooked up directly to the internet,
the other to your internal network. In this case, you use the router as a
hub, and let IPCop handle all of the DHCP and stuff, and just turn off the
routing and firewall on the router.

Bob,

Do you have a broad band connection and more than one computer ? We have DSL
and I am trying to understand how this works. I will need to build a Linux
PC up and then where does this sit to intercept all incoming data ? I have a
2-Wire portal and the "wire from the wall" goes into that and then out into
a Linksys Router to multiple computers.

The 2-Wire has a built in firewall... Not sure how robust it is.

I use IP Cop and am VERY happy with it.

More stable than my power supply.  Just sits in the corner and runs.\
