I have done quite a bit a research into payment processing The only requirements are that the solution lend itself to multiple platforms and methods; meaning: 1) I should be able to swipe a card somewhere at a terminal 2) put up a simple "accept card over internet" site. 3) most be hosted on site I may be mistaken, but I think dial-up is a thing of the past, for new solutions. It can be hosted by any in house server and programmed in any language. But has to be 1 entity, not several solutions. The iSeries seems to be a 'closed game' with IBM offering a full blown WebSphere solution and 1 mid-market solution. Both of these solutions require infrastructure considerations or are too comprehensive to suite this requirement. The most suitable I found is VeriSign's Payflow Pro client (java SDK) It is in the price range. But is that all? I find it hard to believe that we have not made this easier on ourselves, while simultaneously enabling those with low budgets to participate? Mark Villa in Summerville SC
