I just installed Norton Personal Firewall (NPF). I want to protect my
connection to work over a VPN connection, especially. Here's my setup:
- At home
- Win 2K SP4
- Cable modem
- Security policy for VPN IPSEC connection
- Client for Remote Desktop
- At work
- DSL modem
- LinkSys VPN router
- Win XP SP2
Before NPF (or when disabled), I click on Remote Desktop Client. Its dialog
box appears. I click on Connect and the little bar drops down, as well as a
logon window for the XP machine at work. Nice.
With NPF enabled, it times out and reports that it could not connect to
remote computer.
I've tried putting the internal addresses into my Trusted zone in NPF. I
set the program control entry for Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection to
"Permit All". There's another program sometimes mentioned for Remote
Desktop (rdpclip.exe) but it's not on my Win 2K system. I had also tried to
allow in/out over port 3389, but that did not help, either.
Anyone have any luck making this work? What else do you need to know?
Thanks
Vern
