I have my Outlook replicate my e-mail to an off line file. That off line
file is kept on our file server and backup nightly. I can get to it from
home via VPN as well. The off line file is only updated when the client is
on line though, not by the server but as a function of Outlook client. Is
the Notes a function of the server?

The normal mode of Notes operation is to replicate all mail etc. between the
PC and the Domino server. If his has not been set up that way he should be
able to change it with no problem. Can't tell you the exact steps as I no
longer use Notes, but if I recall correctly, you right click on the database
icon on the desktop and select new replica or something of that nature.

Always worked beautifully for me - wish I could say the same for Outlook and
my current mail system.
