No. MS wouldn't intentionally change the OS to prevent people from using a competitor's package, would they?
hhmmm.... let's put a bunch of hooks into the API's so that our software runs faster and our competitors will have to use the slower hooks... we can put it out as a new OS... we will call it... hhmmm... "our extra fast product"... no... too long... how about XP?... That works...

Ut oh... The Judge was told about our hooks... Ok... We will let some of our competitors who pay us thousands of dollars to access some of the code to find the "good hooks" in the API's... and take out what the Judge was told about... but not those he wasn't told about...

Let's see. We can drop all support for Java and remove the JVM from our site... Oh no... we have to wait for that terrible Judge who says we are a monopoly to be overturned... Ok... Now let's do it... It's been 24 hours... we'll call it.... hmmm.... dot net...

Geeezzzzz people. Does it take a bigger hammer to get through to some of you?
I know it's thousands and thousands of pages... but if you can read court documents, it's all in there.

Wouldn't put it past them.  Actually I think something like this has been talked
about in the press/trade mags.  Don't remember the details though.  Hey, even
IBM does it(FAST400?).  Atleast they warn you that it may disable some software.
