RabbitMQ is implemented in Erlang, so it has as much of a connection
to Python as ActiveMQ does (namely, zero).

ActiveMQ
does have some Python interfaces and of course it does REST so the Java vs.
Python thing is not as big a deal as it could be, but then again, I'd rather
not introduce another dependency in our software.

I would think ActiveMQ introduces fewer dependencies (Java is already
installed on the i, whereas Erlang is not). Also, it seems there is an
ActiveMQ RPM from IBM (i.e. you can just install with yum or ACS).
