Er, I sometimes conflate endianness and bitness. I don't usually work
at a level which involves either of those things. (I'm mainly
programming in Python, after all.) What I meant was either "I was
expecting an 8-byte integer and got 4, or vice versa" or perhaps
"within these 8 bytes, I wanted the stuff in the leftmost 4, but got
the right, or vice versa" or something along those lines.
