Hello, all:
I have discussed this idea with several people recently --it is time to create an RFE ...
*IBM should contribute source code for withdrawn IBM i program products to "open source" ....*
It would benefit the entire community if IBM would place source code for older IBM program products that are /no longer marketed or supported/ by IBM, into an open source publicly available repository like github, etc.
Such a repository of "real-world" source code would serve as an excellent educational resource showing how to build robust software for the native IBM i ILE and OPM environments, and should also help to attract new talent to the platform.
The RFE for this idea is here:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=98739
and if you like the idea, please vote for it.
All the best,
Mark S. Waterbury
