why can't we have native i open source stuff?

Well, the question is, what do you want?

No, I mean there is a prevailing notion that open source on the i
somehow MUST entail PASE. Yes, that is an oversimplification, but it's
accurate to a first approximation.

I cannot tell you how many times I have had to explain that no,
iSeriesPython does not run in PASE, and has really nothing to do with
PASE. IFS yes, PASE no. Do not call QP2TERM. Do not start QSH. Just
use the PYTHON command. It's a QSYS *CMD object.

As for what open source I want for QSYS, there's nothing in
particular. I just think that QSYS is what makes the IBM i what it is.
Without it, we might as well just use a full-blown Linux. That would
certainly make a lot of things simpler.
