Tony isn't on this forum to my knowledge so I will give my perception and
he can correct me if I'm wrong. Tony likes Python for automating
system/admin things. I am learning to like Python. I wish it could have
been written in shell to keep the base with less dependencies. But there's
also the following observation that makes it a very viable option.
One observation: It's the only scripting language that can be
~easily/automatically~ downloaded and used on IBM i. Node.js requires
5733OPS. Ruby requires submitting a download request to PowerRuby. PHP
requires a sign-up/download similar to PowerRuby. Technically Ruby can
also be downloaded from perzl, and I've done that, but there's more to
doing Ruby on i than just what Perzl has.

Your script gave me an idea based on some work Tony Cairns did withpython

n2 -gen_chroot_OPS_lst

Interesting. Out of curiosity, what made you (or whoever wrote it)
choose Python as the scripting language? Obviously, I don't think this
is a bad choice, but I'm wondering what Python has that more familiar
languages (to you or Tony or whoever else) don't have. Or is the
author of that script really most comfortable with Python after all?
