I'm good with all that. Python 3 with "import requests" is what I'm
using on my PC.

I don't have admin authority on these boxes (boy, I miss that) so I have
to have our Ops guys install.

I will need to run this out of Robot on a regular basis so I have some
research there.

Thanks.

Subject: Re: [IBMiOSS] Python Install Cheat Sheet

Do you know what python packages you need? Do you know if you can do it
all with Python 3?

For Python 3

-Install LICPGM 5733OPS option 2. For best results, just install ALL of
the 5733OPS options
-Install PTF Group SF99707

Python 3 should now be installed.

Do you know how to connect to the PASE shell to run python scripts:

- STRTCPSVR *SSHD

Then, connect to your IBM i using a shell client like Putty (assuming your
client is Windows)

Once you get a command prompt - type: python3

...to start a python shell or: python3 <pgm name>

...to execute a Python program

Note - I'm sitting at home typing all this so it isn't tested, but those
are the basics to get it running. Other, please chime in if I've missed
anything.

Roger - if you need any further help with any of the other steps let me
know. I was assuming you were familiar with the shell command line, but
that may or may not be true. I may be away from my computer tomorrow but
will get back to you if you have more questions.

I need to consume a web service so I tried it on my PC with Python. It

So, now, I want to move it to the "i" where it belongs.

I've been following the questions/issues/trials/tribulations of
installing OSS options for a while now.

Can anyone point me to a good cheat sheet I can give our admin for
properly installing and patching Python? We're on 7.2 TR3.

After I get that working, I need to send a file to feed the web service.

This is fun stuff!

Thanks.
