The short answer is: You don't.

You can try to create as much continuity as you can by replicating the
subject line and quoting relevant text (via copy and paste, and adding
e-mail or Usenet quoting, if you wish). Some mailreaders or
newsreaders thread by subject line and might display your new
contribution as though it belonged to the original thread. But
honestly, I don't think it's a big deal if it doesn't happen. The
important thing is that you include enough context within your post so
that people can follow what you're trying to say.
