Possibly apocryphal, but I did read this one many years ago.

A programmer happened to see a user respond to an ugly error message
that showed up on her display -- "Not authorized to object." The
user simply canceled and went back in to the next step.

Programmer sputters something like "Wait! What was that? How often
does that happen?"

User: "It happens when I go through that last option. I do it every
week."

Programmer: "Why didn't you tell someone? Why haven't you complained?"

User: "Well... it says I wasn't authorized to object..."
