Programmers are often less extreme versions of the same idea. Personally I've learned to wear a suit but I arrive at work on my bicycle, and I generally read my mail and check a few things before I go and shower. Occasionally I get engrossed in something and someone has to remind me mid-morning to go and change out of Lycra, especially if the CIO might be around. Personally I don't see the problem.
