Well, it is one of those sort of secret fuzzy numbers but IBM and SAP did announce the 2,000 iSeries SAP implementation last summer. They went from 1,000 to 2,000 in a 3 year period which technically made OS/400 the fastest growing operating system........of course, these are small numbers compared to other platforms. Couple of things to watch out for - some people will differentiate between AS/400 and iSeries implementations. We had a research firm tell us that the AS/400 had less than 100 implementations and the number was reducing. But we investigated and found out that was for the models they called AS/400's vs. iSeries........and they owned up to the mistake made by one individual at their firm....&^%$#@! idiots....... :-) Of course you may see something different with the i5 implementations also. My guess is that the 2,000 number is generally correct but I would worry about the effects of acquisitions or the change of platforms etc. SAP goes out of their way to be as platform agnostic as they can - it is pretty tough to get those numbers. As I have said many times the iSeries (especially the i5) makes a kick @&& SAP server........ Michael Crump Manager, Computing Services Saint-Gobain Containers 1509 S.
