Also to be clear, I certainly didn't want to imply that you were on a par
with any run-of-the-mill newbie. I've dealt with tape/device compatibility
issues before and understand (some of) the problems.

It's just that this was indeed a perfect example of "forest vs. trees" which
had a simple resolution and which was similar to experiences we all have.
What made it perfect was how you got the nudge in the right direction and
the timing of it. You just happened to be the lucky one.

I apologize if it seemed to be anything beyond a useful illustration.
