SAP is a huge risk but I'm reading that our parent company may not
care.....ROI and all other things be damned......

Michael,
I don't have anything direct but do have a niece, nephew and his wife
that work in IT for Pioneer Hi-Bred International (www.pioneer.com).
They tell me that SAP is successfully used along with a lot of other
major packages.
You also might check the archives here. I recall a lot of discussions
about companies spending _years_ and _millions_ to get SAP up without
actually making it there.
