I know similar discussions like this have happened before, but this is more of the real deal. I thought I would start it here, if it moved to the RPG list that is fine. A co-worker and I where talking about the possibility of OpenRPG and/or OpenCOBOL. Where the compiler would be source-compatible with OS/400 and other COBOL/RPG compilers. So you can, for instance, test and run development programs on a Linux or Windows box and then move into production on OS/400 or maybe even production on this linux/windows server. The possibility is there of using mySQL for the backend DB. What are your thoughts on this? We are talking source NOT binary compatible. Let me know if there is interest in this. We are going to see what the interest level is, then decide if we have enough help to work on this. Mike
