IMO, the energy used is less than the wear and | tear on the | hardware by powering it down and back up. (Same thing applies to | AS/400s.) Btw, I was told same for tubes as PCs and such, by a CE long time ago... Had a couple cases where the switch broke, which *probably* cost about the same to replace, as electric used (in power-saver mode).
