Just try it again, I got that the first time, too. Dvorak makes some fantastic points there, some brilliant points in fact, but some of it is "editorializing" in between the relevant points. Like the assertion that IBM missed a great opportunity when it didn't break up so the pieces could grab all the dot-com IPO money. And IBM kept even according to his or others' figures, while everybody else went under. But I've got to ask, where would IBM be now? All those IPO's have come and gone, they went bye-bye for the most part by now, and you can count on the fingers of one hand which companies still sell big servers and computers for heavy accounting and transaction processing. Back-office stuff. IBM, HP-Compaq, Sun, and a couple more. He criticizes IBM for using Linux when they already have their great OS's, then derides them for not putting Lotus on Linux "if IBM is so high on Linux". IBM is using Linux. --Alan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edith Lueke" <lueke@us.ibm.com> To: <midrange-nontech@midrange.com> Sent: Friday, July 19, 2002 10:09 AM Subject: Re: Midrange-NonTech digest, Vol 1 #253 - 6 msgs > > The article link doesn't work for me: > > Error 504 - Proxy Time-out > Explanation:The Proxy Server is experiencing time out before it receives > any data from the web server. > > > Action: Contact your network administrator. > > > URL: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,369682,00.asp > ******************** > Edith Lueke > User-Centered Design Team, iSeries > http://w3.rchland.ibm.com/~lueke > email: lueke@us.ibm.com > http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/ucd > 507-253-4908 Tie: 8-553-4908 > > > > > _______________________________________________ > This is the Non-Technical Discussion about the AS400 / iSeries (Midrange-NonTech) mailing list > To post a message email: Midrange-NonTech@midrange.com > To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, > visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-nontech > or email: Midrange-NonTech-request@midrange.com > Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives > at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-nontech. > >
