I saw that too, and had the same reaction. I don't see how the parent company should have any claim whatsoever, although I'm sure there's some ridiculous legal reason. Notice also that it's way out of proportion to the other claims. I sent mine in anyway, although I notice that the minimum payout will be $10 and I doubt that any settlement would get my $250 claim up to the minimum.
