you fall prey to a firewall issue. I've explained this in details on several occasions in this group. Search the archive for the term "passive mode" if you're curious.

Would you have cared to mention your actual issue right from the start instead of your very generic initial question, quite some wasted "round trips" and your wrong conclusion about size restrictions could have been spared. ;-)

I've been trying this interactively for now, with the idea of setting up a batch file (if the user wants to have it that way)

I the FTP commands as far as "pretending" to run the PUT statement.
"200 PORT subcommand successful" That lasted about 9 minutes, but then up popped "425 Not able to open data connection".
