There is no "-f" DONT FRAG bit to specify using ordinary tooling on
IBM i like in other systems.

You don't "stop" fragmentation, if the packet is too big for the
channel and DF in on in the packet it never arrives (the sending
party get ICMP error).
Usually, these things are handled by the network equipment.And it is
best done there.Like MSS fixing (to reduce the TCP window in
transit).Some equipment clears the DF in transit and fragment it
anyway.Sometimes you have VPN tunnels somewhere that have a lower
than typical (ethernet) MTU.


IPv6 doesn't allow in transport fragmentation, so yes the requirement
on networks to properly support PMTU is coming to everyone.
