The way I upload Excel files is as follows:

1. I define a table on the IBM i. I add 1 dummy row of data.
2. Using ACS, I create a download request to download the data from the IBM
i to Excel, and create the File Definition File.
3. Using ACS, I create an upload request to upload the Excel file to the
IBM i using the FDF.

I've got this honking big XLS spreadsheet (over 20k rows), and I need to
replicate it as a database file. Can anybody suggest a "path of least
resistance" for this?

I have a vague recollection of doing something like this before, but I
don't recall how. Maybe something involving CPYFRMSTMF?
