Reminds me of an incident, over a decade ago, when I inadvertently exceeded the WVDC rating of a capacitor. It shorted, and blew the can clean off, with sufficient force to break out the plastic case of the fixture in which it was contained, scattering foil and fluff over a surprisingly wide area.
