If you were unable to connect with the IP address given by the “30” routine, then it’s about 90% one of the following:

The IP address of the PC was not manually set to be in the range with the HMC port, with the same netmask and using the HMC port as a gateway.
— or —
The firewall on the PC is active and blocking connectivity.

it should work. on the front panel, function 30 shows the HMC port
addresses. my power 8 showed 10.0.0.4 . Connected the LAN cable from a
windows PC direct to the HMC1 port of the server. On the windows PC I set
to "use the following IP address": 10.0.0.2 . Once that was set I could
ping 10.0.0.4. Then use chrome to connect to https://10.0.0.4 That
brought up the ASMI web page.

My clients UAK key is still not installed.

The problem is that it seems impossible to access the ASMI interface using
any method we have tried. I will explain:

The client has used the buttons on the control panel to find the IP-address
for HMC-1. This address was different from the default in the documents
IBM-support has provided.

Using that a laptop has been connected with an ethernet cable to the HMC-1
port. Following this the ip address has been entered in a browser (tried
both https and http) as described in documents.

Result - Nothing!

This problem has dragged on for a while now and there do not seem to be any
more options available.
