<According to memory> It was a decade or two gone already, but this discussion was happening. I just remembered it, past couple days, and posted it as soon as. The same arguments as in this discussion. Scott Klement was widely known then. I'm not sure he had all the awards then.

But from what i remember the tone of his contribution to the discussion was major frustration at people failing to grasp the point that everything you can do in screen, you can do it in a browser page just fine, just as easily after a very, very short learning curve. He was frustrated that techs weren't even trying the GUI-type tools for replacing (emulating even) green screens.

He may have even mentioned it as something that was hurting the reputation of the midrange.

I think his point is borne out by the apparent fact that there aren't many new entrants to the IBM i market. Apparently. Is that wrong? If it is correct, this platform will die off with us.

Good thing some of us are working on "look-alike" platforms.

Nothing beats the green screen for high speed data entry. Prove me wrong.

Some programmers belive that the green screen is the best.

Also, there are peole that believe the earth is flat...

And there are people who firmly believe that the web browser is always the best choice for an UI, without further consideration of the greater goal to be achieved.
