There is another option. Code/400 still runs on more modern windows. Shops that don't want to use RDi to maintain older screens and reports, could still do so using Code/400s utilities. In fact, I never actually used SDA. My first real shop I worked in in 2000, a few of the developers working there were doing VA/RPG and were using Code/400. I quickly switched to Code/400 and never looked back. I know it wasn't liked by some, but I sure loved it.

In fact if you remember I sent you the installs for it a few months back. When I found them, I was told that there were still some shops using it for screens and reports due to RDi not having a design utility.

I’m just curious how many of you folks will stay at V7R5 because of this short sighted move or removing SDA and forcing RDI as an option or the non-completed VS Code SDA alternative.

There’s no reason that SDA couldn’t have been left on the box for those customers who are using it.

We have a number of older customers using S/36 environment code and I don’t think I can advise them to go beyond V7R5 unless they are planning to stop maintaining their green screen apps.

Interested in your thoughts.
