I don't know. He was having intermittend DNS issues resolving host names
and IBM seems to have told him to switch from TCP to UDP.

I have no idea what their reasoning is. Just asking if it makes any sense
to anyone here.. haha.

Whatever he's talking to would have to be set up to listen for UDP.

Is it possible IBM is talking about the DNS query itself? DNS is one app
that does support UDP and TCP.

Normally, a regular DNS query goes out via UDP. DNS Zone transfers, are
usually done with TCP.
