Another vendor, when asked about support for IBM i 7.6:
I am not aware of anybody running <ed: our product> having upgraded to 7.6
yet. We have not had any issues with any previous release. If you run
into any issues, please be sure to let us know and we'll work with you to
resolve.
Argh!
My reply:
Here’s an issue right here:
Java 11 is not supported on IBM i 7.6. IBM announced that 7.5 was the end
of the road for Java 11 long before 7.6 came out.
Your <ed: one function> uses Java 11.
<proof image redacted>
That Java 11 would not make it past 7.5, and that IBM has a rolling 3 year
release schedule of OS upgrades, has been publicly posted for quite some
time. I am assuming an adoption of Java 17 as 21 is not yet available for
7.5 and never will be for 7.4. 7.3 will be a real issue though as Java 17
isn’t supported there. Only java 8 is supported on IBM i 7.1-7.6. But
since you’re using Java 11 you’ve already left IBM i 7.1-7.2 in the dust.
Java versions supported on IBM i:

We’re only running IBM i 7.5 and above.
Even the super extended support of IBM i 7.3 ends 2026-09-30. I’m putting
money down that Sept of this year IBM will announce the end of standard
support date for IBM i 7.4 of September 2026. Again, 3 year cycle thing.

ed note: I've pasted that reply, or a very close variation of it, to more
