Gad, if you continue to hear, especially, Scott Forstie's comments, I think it is as much as we need - SEU, for example, was sunsetted at V6R1 - that means it is still there but not supported and will have no updates, IIRC. And there is a list of things that are being removed - often for reasons of the need to make them current for security reasons. 40 year old products were not written to handle current security attacks, so IBM asked various groups, such as CAAC and LUG, their thoughts on should things be kept. Recently here there was a thread were I mentioned GDDM - it is gone, I believe, and I believe I indicated that I thought it should go away.

Again, listen to Scott's comments. He said Liam got it right - Liam did say these might go away someday - don't worry about that, it IS possible, but how long ago did 6.1 come out, and we still have SEU? I think 6.1 come out in 2008.

I found an article from July 2023 asking should SEU be taken off the system - interesting poll results.

If you still use it, and you are trying to do fully-free RPG, you will keep having what looks like errors in SEU - that's because IBM are adding nothing more to what is supported in languages there

Normally that means they just stop doing anything with it... fixes,

Sort of like how they did PDM (or was it SEU... been a while since I've
used them).

Did they say that they're offering a discount because of dropping the
support? ;)

According to Liam Allen SDA & RLU will be on 7.6 but not supported.

Anyone care to elaborate?

TIA
